Eve Statement - Collaborative Project
Previously I have worked on realistic and expressionistic paintings to depict female portraits who have inspired me to be a strong woman. By making their portraits I feel connected to fearless female artists who strive to follow their passion in creating art as well as advocating feminism through their work.
The main subject matter for this project was Eve from Adam and Eve. How I look at Eve is a woman who was very curious and eager for knowledge.
In this mixed media collaborative project with Rizaldy, we used clay to create snake sculptures and then with photographs of women, leaves, and snakes we created a digital collage. The collage was then printed on two dimensional watercolor paper to be handled with traditional paint mediums. I especially enjoyed creating colorful paints and dynamic strokes to show bursts of energy to depict the awakening moment of Eve.
